Eric sits down with Dr. Michael Cullinane to discuss the history of imperialism and anti-imperialism from their earliest roots in ancient Greece to the more modern incarnations. They examine the distinctly different forms of imperialism and anti-imperialism in the US, Soviet Union, and elsewhere, both in terms of political ideology and practical application. In addition, Eric and Dr. Cullinane debate contemporary imperialism in the context of Libya, China, and other parts of today’s world.

Dr. Michael Cullinane is Senior Lecturer in History at Northumbria University. His new book, Liberty and American Anti-Imperialism is a study of the anti-imperialist movement at the turn of the 20th Century. The book, published by Palgrave Macmillan, is scheduled for release this July. He can be reachedmichael.cullinane@northumbria.ac.uk.
