The past ten days have seen the utter devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the triumph of Barack Obama. From ignoring heavily affected poor and working class communities to framing Obama’s victory as a triumph for democracy, the media has shown, once again, its subservience to power and complicity in the continued crimes of the ruling class. In this episode, I relay my own experiences after the storm as well as my interpretation and analysis of Obama’s victory and the coming “Grand bargain”. Also, I speak with Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) about single-payer or Medicare for All demands.
Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) has been a practicing physician and medical educator for over 35 years. Coming from a family of doctors, she pursued a career in medicine, with the goal of helping people to get and stay well. In addition to her private practice as a dermatologist, Dr. Rosenthal is a professor of dermatology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in Bronx, NY, working with residents and medical students.
